Privacy & data
Effective October 12, 2026
Bafflemark records kitchen exhaust service work on your device. This policy explains what the app stores and what happens when you choose to share or export a file.
Information stored on your device
The app stores customer and site details, system details, technician names, service notes, deficiencies, timestamps, before-and-after photos, customer signatures, and reminder settings in app-private storage. It also keeps limited local diagnostic and audit records to protect saved work.
PDF reports are generated from saved records. A temporary PDF may be staged in private cache for the first-page preview or when you choose to share it.
Network and services
Bafflemark has no app account or automatic cloud sync. Customer and service records, photographs and signatures are not automatically uploaded to the developer or Google.
The free version shows Google AdMob banner ads on the work screen. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share an IP address (used to estimate approximate location), app interactions, diagnostic information and device or account identifiers. Google uses these for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. SDK data is encrypted in transit using TLS. The app requests no precise-location permission.
Google User Messaging Platform handles advertising consent where required. Advertising privacy choices are available from Options when the consent platform requires them. The SDK is initialized only when advertising is permitted. A permanent unlock removes ads.
See Google privacy policy and Google Mobile Ads data disclosure for the services and their controls.
Trial and permanent purchase
Five completed service jobs are free. A one-time purchase through Google Play removes the completion limit and advertising permanently. The Canadian base price is CAD 7.99; the Play checkout displays the applicable localized price and taxes. There is no subscription.
Google Play processes payment and payment details. Bafflemark receives the product and purchase state, a purchase token and a signed receipt. It verifies the receipt and stores it privately on the device so a verified unlock works offline. Purchase tokens are not placed in service reports or backups and are not sent to an app server. Restore purchase checks ownership with the same Google Play account. A successful Play check may revoke a refunded or cancelled unlock.
After five free completions, saved records, drafts, evidence, PDF reports and backup controls remain available. Trial usage is based on completed service jobs, not the number of app launches.
Photos, location, and notifications
You can take a photo with an installed camera app or choose one with Android's file picker. Bafflemark receives only the photo you select and keeps a smaller copy with the job record. The app does not request location access.
If you save a service reminder, Android may ask for notification permission. A reminder can be saved while notifications are off; alerts require notifications to be enabled.
Sharing and export
When you share a PDF or export a backup, the app you choose can access that file. Bafflemark does not choose the recipient or send the file in the background. Backup ZIPs are not encrypted by Bafflemark; keep them in a secure location. Files outside Bafflemark's storage are managed by the destination you selected.
Retention and removal
Saved history stays on the device until you clear Bafflemark's app data in Android Settings or uninstall the app. Archiving a customer or site keeps its history. Android platform backup and device transfer are disabled for Bafflemark data. Clearing app data does not remove copies you previously exported or shared.
